Introduction: Radical retropubic prostatectomy represents in its various forms (open, laparoscopic and robotic) the "gold standard" treatment for adenocarcinoma of the prostate. Unfortunately like al treatment solutions it has its shortcomings. Retropubic radical prostatectomy, external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy are the curative options. Materials and Method: The experience of Clinic of Urology from Central Military Hospital representing more than 100 cases was analyzed . Classical open retropubic prostatectomy was performed in all cases. We focused in this paper on intraoperative complications and also precocious and late postoperative complications. Results: Our results are matching the other centers in terms of intraoperative complications (blood loss), early postoperative complications (hematuria, urinary tract infection, lymphatic drainage) or late postoperative complications (erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence). However none of these complications are to be underestimated Conclusions: The limits of this intervention can be pushed a litle bit further, in our opinion the age factor is a relative one, some of these patients having a longer than 10 years life expectancy. It provides good oncological outcome with manageable complications most of the times.
Aim. The assessment of distribution of supernumerary permanent teeth (SPT) and the disturbances caused by them. Material and method. Cross-sectional study upon a sample of 85 children (58 boys) aged between 3 and 18 years (mean age=9.08±3.09 years) with at least one SPT. Were analyzed: patients’ distribution according to gender, age and number of dental units; SPT distribution according to arch and topography and also the disturbances noticed. Results. a) boys:girls ratio=2.14:1; b) the 85 patients had 107 SPT, mean number=1.25; c) 76.47% of patients had one SPT; d) 89.72% of SPT were on maxillary arch, maxilla:mandible ratio = 8.7:1; d) 92.52% of SPT were localized in anterior region, anterior:posterior region ratio = 12.3:1; e) mesiodens –71.96%, supernumerary lateral incisor – 19.62%; f) disturbances caused by SPT: ectopic eruption of permanent teeth – 36.47%; delay or failure of eruption of permanent teeth – 21.17%; crowding – 20%. Conclusions. 1. Supernumerary teeth were most frequent noticed in boys, in maxillary anterior region. 2. Most often they caused eruption disturbances of permanent teeth.
Renal disease in pregnancy is a rare pathology, but it raises several problems in terms of normal pregnancy evolution. Among pregnant women with renal injury, the rate of complications such as spontaneous abortion, preeclampsia, hypertension, intrauterine growth restriction, premature birth, fetal and neonatal mortality are much higher. For a good understanding of the pathology and a correct management of pregnant women with renal disease, it is necessary to know the normal pregnancy changes and the differentiation of chronic kidney disease from the acute injuries occurring during pregnancy. It is useful to ensure counseling prior to conception and to perform all prophylactic measures in order to prevent pregnancy complications and subsequent decline in renal function in all cases of pregnant women with chronic renal insufficiency. Treatment of acute renal failure in pregnancy involves therapy of the underlying condition that caused renal injury, prevention of irreversible kidney injury and pre-vention of maternal and fetal secondary complications. Monitoring carefully this cate-gory of pregnant women, although additional risks strike, often results in favorabl pregnancy evolution.
