Determine the medical causes and diseases which led to early and permanent medical disqualification of military cadets

Background and Aim: Efficient manpower is the most important of military capital, and many studies have shown the relationship between personal health and organizational performance. The preparation of military cadet volunteers to enter aeronautical training and the provision of optimal services in the form of well-trained pilots requires many material spiritual resources that disabilities, make them waste. Methods: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective study with target population of Iranian air force cadets with early and permanent medical disqualification from 1986 to 2016. Results: 80 cases were detected, including 25 kills and 55 early and permanent medical disqualification. The main causes were ear, nose and throat, psychiatry and cardiac, respectively. Common diseases include motion sickness, generalized anxiety disorder, adjustment disorder and epilepsy, respectively. The total number of lost service years was 1412 person years and the average of lost service years was 25.67 person years. Most of the lost service years were related to medical causes included ear, nose and throat, psychiatric and cardiac, and diseases included motion sickness, generalized anxiety disorder and adjustment disorder, respectively. Neurologic causes resulted in highest average of lost service years and high blood pressure was the major diseases, respectively. Conclusions: Due to the lack of similar studies, the results of this study were compared with the data, which extracted from previous studies in the pilot’s population. Because of occupational similarity between pilots and cadets, It was expected that the most common causes in pilots and cadets should be the same, but we found that the results are very different.

The communication in the field of health can be defined as a communication strategy used to inform and influence individual and community decisions with the aim of improving and enriching personal and community behaviors and public health practices. It includes studying public health attitudes and behaviours to determine the type, frequency and format of the messages.

Medical causes and diseases leading to early permanent disqualification in IRIAF pilots based on their service categories

Background and Aim: Efficient manpower is the most important capital and studies have shown the relationship between health and performance.Understanding the factors leading to disability has preventive importance.Our aim is determine the causes and diseases leading to early permanent medical disqualification of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force pilots based on their service categories. Methods: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective study with target population of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force pilots with early and permanent medical disqualification from 1986 to 2016. Results: Out of 508 cases of early medical discharges, 239 items were considered medical disqualification, 17 war captives, 34 service exchange and the remaining 218 was for on service killed or missed persons.The main medical causes were neurosurgery, cardiovascular and psychiatric, while common diseases include lumbar discopathy, myocardial infarction and cardiac arrhythmia.The lost service years was 3233 person year and the average was 12.63 person year per individual. Conclusions: Based on the previous similar studies, it was expected that the common cause include neurosurgery, cardivascular and psychiatric with more prevalence in fighter, transportation, and helicopter service categories.At the end, we found that our results were in line with initial expectations.

Investigating the Relationship Between Social Responsibility and COVID-19 Morbidity in the Population Covered by Health Centers in Iran

: Social responsibility and, is an indicator that is important in the epidemic of diseases with high prevalence and death rates. The current study aims at determining the relationship between social responsibility and COVID-19 in the population covered by health centers in Iran. Methods: 500 people participated in this descriptive-analytical study. The data was collected using a researcher-made social responsibility questionnaire in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic in three areas general, individual, and social responsibility. The quantitative content validity method was used to measure the validity of the questionnaire and Cronbach's alpha calculation method was used to measure its reliability. The data were analyzed using SPSS21 software. Findings: Among the participants, 4.32% of them had a history of covid-19, and the history of complications was more in men (51.9%) and the mean social responsibility score of women was higher (P<0.001). The average responsibility score was higher in people without a history of Covid-19 than in people with a history of Covid-19 (P=0.006). Conclusion: Individuals with higher social responsibility observed more health protocols and had lower rates of covid-19 infection among them. Therefore, in the design of educational interventions, planning should be done to increase people's sense of social responsibility

Body Composition Analysis in the Air Force: A Comparative Study of Medical Personnel and Mechanics

Given the rigorous demands of aerial operations on the human body, this study aims to investigate the body composition differences among aircrew specialties, specifically between medical personnel and mechanics within the Air Force. By examining key body composition metrics such as fat mass, lean mass, and body water, the study seeks to uncover how these variables correlate with aircrew members' distinct occupational duties and overall health. Initial findings indicate subtle but significant body composition variations between groups, suggesting occupational roles may influence physical attributes. There were small differences in body composition between mechanics and medical personnel, primarily based on a greater body mass index, weight, body water, skeletal muscle mass, soft lean mass, and fat-free mass of the mechanics. Body composition analysis by segments suggest a better muscle activation during their duties, but worse nutrition habits in mechanics when compared to medical personnel. This underscores the importance of designing occupation-specific training and nutrition programs to optimize the health and operational performance of aircrew members across specialties.
