Shooting impairment may occur whereas there is either central or peripherical fatigue. However, the effects of different physical stressor stimuli on fine motor skills as shooting are yet not fully understood. The present research aimed to analyze the effect of endurance and resisted physical stressors on the psychophysiological response and pistol marksmanship of novel soldiers, and the possible differences in gender and BMI. Variables of heart rate, isometric hand strength, rate of perceived exertion, and pistol marksmanship were analyzed in 56 soldiers in endurance and resisted stress protocols. Isometric hand strength, heart rate, and RPE were significantly higher in both resisted and endurance physical stress protocols than in the basal sample. Gender differences were seen in strength, cardiovascular and RPE values. Also, subjects with larger BMI presented significantly higher isometric hand strength and higher marksmanship in all moments evaluated. We conclude that an endurance stress protocol produced a higher cardiovascular and perceived exertion than a resisted one, not affecting hand strength, shooting heart rate, and marksmanship. Females presented lower hand strength and marksmanship while higher rated of perceived exertion and heart rate during the endurance and resisted stress protocols than males. Overweight participants presented higher heart rates during both physical stress protocols, but higher hand strength and marksmanship while similar shooting heart rates than normal-weight participants.
Objective: Malignant neoplasms of the skin are diagnosed in high-risk groups, among which the military is special. The article is devoted to the analysis of diagnostics, and risk factors for malignant skin tumors in servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Materials and methods: An analysis of 23 cases of diagnosed malignant neoplasms of the skin in servicemen of AFU for the period 1999-2021. The study included cases in which the diagnosis was confirmed histologically in two laboratories. Clinical, laboratory, and histological data of each case were analyzed, and further analysis took into account the length of military service and the risks of professional activity. Results: Among the 23 cases, the majority - 22 were servicemen, and only 1 case of basal cell carcinoma in a 52-year-old employee. Among other servicemen, the age range was 25-55 years, with a mean age of diagnosis of 42 years. The period of military service at the time of diagnosis was 23.7 years, most cases were melanoma (15 of 23 cases), and in other cases - basal cell carcinoma. Patients were dominated by Air Force personnel (10 out of 23 cases) Conclusion: The prevalence of malignant skin neoplasms in the Armed Forces corresponds to global trends. A group of increased risk of developing malignant skin neoplasms is servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a long service life (more than 20 years), older than 40 years. However, there is a high probability of developing melanoma of the skin in servicemen of shorter service life, which requires enhanced dermatological supervision in servicemen of any age and service life.
: Introduction: The present study aimed to compare the effect of two methods of rinsing with chlorhexidine Oral hygiene in patients undergoing endotracheal intubation is one of the most important tasks of nurses, and Matrica mouthwashes on the incidence of ventilator-induced pneumonia (VAP) in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Materials and Methods: This is a clinical trial carried out on 80 patients undergoing oral endotracheal intubation. Patients were included in the study using simple sampling and randomly divided into chlorhexidine mouthwash and the matrica mouthwash groups. Data collection was carried out using a demographic information questionnaire and clinical pulmonary infection score (CPIS). Results: The results also showed that most participants in the chamomile group (75%) did not have pneumonia, but the chlorhexidine group had pneumonia in 77.5% of cases. The Chi-square test showed a statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of the incidence and non-incidence of pneumonia (p = 0). Also, the odd ratio of developing pneumonia in the chamomile mouthwash to chlorhexidine mouthwash was 0.30%. Conclusion: Considering the advantages of herbal compounds such as their low price and low risk, matrica can be considered a suitable alternative to chlorhexidine.
The evolution of the planet's climate is multifactorial influenced and has a dynamic over time. Many scientists have approached this controversial field, and each relies on objective but divergent statistics. Geographers have established that planet Earth is in a period of slight slow cooling, not at the level of the four prehistoric ice ages, but only at the level of the Little Ice Age from the Middle Ages which probably caused the great migration of peoples from Asia to Europe. This slow cooling is only slowed down and may even be partially reversed by anthropogenic activities. The industry produces large amounts of carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels and other greenhouse gases. Animals produce carbon dioxide through respiration and digestion, some also methane. The waste degradation, fires, volcanic eruptions, swamps, and thawing of permafrost release carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Climate change exit and has always existed, but there is no scientific evidence for global warming or for climate risks other than those we already know. Public health is already facing danger, directly and indirectly, for multiple reasons, to which „climate change” is added.

Knee osteoarthritis is caused by the degeneration of joint tissues through mechanical loading as well as inflammatory effects. The number of total knee arthroplasties is increased and is expected to further be increased by 2050 compared to 2021. The infrapatellar fat pad, also known as Hoffa's fat pad, is often partially or fully resected during total knee arthroplasty to improve the surgeon's view in the upper tibia as well may reduce the risk of soft tissue involvement, when placing the prosthesis. The purpose of this study is to present the importance and functions of Hoffa's fat pad, as well as the latest data on the two conflicting views, on the removal or not of Hoffa's fat pad in total knee arthroplasty. However, there is not a consensus regarding Hoffa's fat pad resection, as its preservation has been associated with increased postoperative anterior knee pain. Due to the fact, that there are no current official guidelines for this issue, it would be preferable that surgeons try to preserve it, but only if there are no visibility and/or access problems during surgery. The choice of complete or partial resection or preservation is based on the surgeon's preferences, experience as well as patient's needs. More high-quality research and randomized clinical trials are needed for better guidance regarding Hoffa’s fat pad management at total knee replacement.
A successful ossiculoplasty (reconstruction of the ossicular chain of the middle ear), even now, almost a hundred years after the first attempts and countless tested materials, remains a challenge through the complexity of the surgical act and through the repeated attempts to find the most adequate prosthesis to re-establish, in the long term, the sound conductive mechanism. In this article, we present a review of the main implanted materials, including the biotechnological aspects of ossicular chain reconstruction with an emphasis on the Romanian contribution to this field of study.
Understanding COVID-19 vaccination attitudes is of paramount importance in order to estimate and influence the willingness to vaccinate. A cross-sectional study was performed in the spring of 2021 in Romania by sending a web-based questionnaire to patients with rheumatic autoimmune diseases in order to assess their willingness to vaccinate against SARS CoV-2 and to identify factors that might influence their decision. Variables derived from the questionnaire were analyzed in univariable and multivariable analysis. 71 patients, of which 60 (84.5%) women, were included in the study, with a 53.5% (38 subjects) willingness to vaccinate. A positive association was observed between the willingness to vaccinate and the patients’ trust in authorities, trust in the healthcare system and the choice of scientific sources of information in their decision making. A positive correlation was observed between the intention to vaccinate and the global VAX score, as well as the subscale VAX scores (p<0.05). Global VAX score emerged as a predictive factor for the intention to vaccinate on logistic regression (p<0.05). The present study underlines the importance of reliable scientific sources of information for pa-tients with autoimmune diseases and how the general attitude about vaccination becomes a pre-dictive factor for accepting COVID-19 vaccine.
